Welcome to Daily Downloads brought to you by CyberNet! Each weekday we bring you software updates for widely used programs, and it’s safe to assume that all the software we list is freeware (we’ll try to note the paid-only programs).
As you browse the Internet during the day, feel free to post the software updates you come across in the comments below so that we can include them the following day!
The software listed here have all been officially released by the developers.

Schoorbs is a system to make room and resource
bookings through a Web 2.0 GUI. You can also
interact with it through a REST API. It allows you to book rooms and resources grouped by areas. Activity can be logged via a simple logging interface. The code is automatically tested by several unit tests. The interface can easily be styled through the usage of a template system. Schoorbs produces valid XHTML 1.1 output, has packages for Debian and Ubuntu, and is well documented online.

Usually, you won’t create a disk image; in fact most of the times you would download it and then mount it somewhere or burn it to a CD/DVD.
However, there are cases in which you could need to create a disk image of a given size, format it and then mount it as a normal device. This happens for example when you want/need to set up a swap file instead of a swap partition or if you want to get a fake floppy disk drive when you don’t even have the driver.
So, let’s see how can you create, format and mount a floppy disk1 fake image:

Linux Security Auditing Tool (LSAT) is a post install security auditing tool. It is modular in design, so new features can be added quickly. It checks many system configurations and local network settings on the system for common security/config errors and for packages that are not needed. It has been tested on Linux (Gentoo, Red Hat, Debian, etc.) and Solaris (SunOS 2.x).

UnusedPkg is a diagnostic tool to search the
oldest unused packages in your Linux system.
UnusedPkg prints a sorted list with the size and
number of days that a package has been idle. This
helps you determine what packages can be manually
removed to clean the system. It supports any
apt-based distribution (tested on Debian and
Ubuntu) and Slackware.
